Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes - Eric Litwin, James Dean

I could use this book on the first day of school. Since Pete has cool red shoes I could let each student decorate a printable pair of red shoes to go along with the story. The guided reading level is K. I would use this book with second and third grade and possibly first.

A Bad Case of Stripes - David Shannon

I could read this book on the first day of school or during the first week of school. The guided reading level is P. I could read this to 2nd-4th grade. If I wanted my students to be able to read it on their own I would use it in third or fourth grade.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie - Laura Joffe Numeroff, Felicia Bond

I would read this book during snack time. I think it is the perfect cute little book to read during snack since its about a mouse eating cookies and milk. The intended audience/grade level would be second or third grade because it is a guided reading level K. However, because it is being read aloud it could also be for first grade.

First Day Jitters - Julie Danneberg, Judy Love

I could use this book on the first day of school to read aloud to my class. I would make jitter juice before I read the book so they could drink it while listening. The intended grade level for this class could be first, second, or third grade. The guided reading level for this book is L.
